Some Foreign Dance Tours


1967 December - Tour of Thailand and Japan, with performances for the Indian Embassy at Bangkok, for the E.C.A.F.E., and for Thai and Japanese Television.

1970 June - Invited by the Ramasubbaiah Scholarship Committee to perform in
8 cities in Malaysia and in Singapore.

1972 December – Benefit performances in Malaysia and Indonesia in aid of the Indian Students’ Scholarship Fund, organised by the Ramasubbaiah Scholarship Committee.

1973 April-May - Was the youngest dancer to dance at the International Dance Festival, of the Theatre De La Ville in Paris. Also performed at Stockholm and Geneva and in Rome, for the royal families of Greece and Denmark.

1975 - Tour of Malaysia in aid of the Rama Subbaiah ‘Indian Students’ Scholarship Fund’.

1975 May - Tour of Iran at the Invitation of the National Iranian Radio and Television and the University of Tehran. Tour of Holland at the invitation of the Wavin Industry and the Royal Tropical Institute, Amsterdam.

1977 January - Indian Council of Cultural Relations ( ICCR) tour of Nepal. Performed for the Indian Republic Day Celebrations on January’ 26th in the presence of King Birendra and Queen Aishwarya of Nepal.

1977 September - October - Government Cultural (ICCR) delegation to the USSR, jointly celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Russian Revolution and the 30th anniversary of Indian Independence. Performed at the Bolshoi Theatre. Also toured Poland and other States of the USSR - Siberia, Khirgiztan, Turkistan, Baku, Azarbaijan.

1979 March - Tour of France, Belgium, Italy, and Holland with performances for the Musee Guimet in Paris, the Musee de Beaux Arts in Brussels, the Philarmonic Society in Rome, the Royal Tropical Institute in Holland

1979 April - May - Tour of U.S.A and Canada organised by the Hindu Temple Society, New York, with 13 performnces.

1980 March - Invited for performances in Germany, by the BASF company, in honour of their chairman, Dr.Seefelder.

1980 July -August - Tour of Italy, Yugoslavia and Egypt. Performances in Perugia, Teramo, Grosetto, Assisi, the Philharmonic Society in Rome, the festivals at Torino, Naples, Selinunte in Sicily, the Ljubljiana Festival in Yugoslavia, Cairo and Alexandria.

1981 July - August - Tour of Australia and Tasmania at the Invitation of the Australia-India Society, with Lecture Demonstrations at schools and at the University of Melbourne and performances in Melbourne, Adelaide, Sydney.

   

1982 March – Performances at The Vienna International Dance Festival ’82 and the Indian Mini Festival of the Philharmonic Society of Rome at Teatro Olimpico.

1982 April - Invited to give the dance premiere for the India Festival in Britain, at the Commonwealth Institute in London.

1983 July - Tour of Malaysia for the Ramasubbaiah Indian Students’ Scholarship Fund.

1983 October - November – Tour of Holland, UK , USA and Canada

1983 October - November – Tour of Germany for the Indo-German Society, with 17 performances . Performances in Minneapolis for the University of Minnesota.

1984 May – Performance and lecture demonstration tour of the US & Canada.

1986 June - Invited to the Nordrhein-Westfalen International dance festival, with performances at Leverkusen, Dusseldorf, Dortmund, Wuppertal, Essen.

1987 October - November – Performed at the Festival of India in Sweden and also in Finland, Denmark & Norway.

1988 October - Invited by the The Bharatiya Vidhya Bhavan-London,UK, to perform for their Golden Jubilee Celebrations.

1988 April - May - Tour of Germany, Sweden, Finland & Italy, including performances at Frankfurt, the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, at Kristianstad and Helsingborg in Sweden and the Teatro Goldoni in Venice.

1990 April - Invited by the Nederlands Broadcasting Corporation and the Royal Tropical Institute-Amsterdam, to perform on the occasion of the birthday of Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands, on 18th April, at the palace at The Hague. The performance was telecast all over the Nederlands.

1990 May - June - Tour of U.S.A. & Canada

1990 July - Performance at Tokyo, for the World NGO Conference, organised by The Club of Rome and the Sasakawa Peace Foundation.

1990 August - Conducted the Summer Workshop at the Bharatiya Vidhya Bhavan, London.

1990 October & November - Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) tour of Mexico, Brazil, Panama and Nicaragua. Represented India at the Cervantes Festival at Mexico. Performances at Mexico city, Guanahuato, Villahermosa, Guadalahara, Cancun, Merida in Mexico, in Sao Paolo, Brazilia and Rio de Janeiro in Brazil, Managua in Nicaragua and in Panama City

1991 June - Performances for The New York International Festival of Arts at The Danspace Theatre and at the Maison de la Culture in Montreal.

1992 February - Tour of Holland and Belgium. Performances at The Royal Tropical Institute, Amsterdam, The Doelen Theatre in Rotterdam, at Nijmegen, the Hague, Utrecht in Holland and for the Indian Embassy at Brussels in Belgium

1992 October – Invited by the International Centre for Mystical studies at Avila in Spain, to dance at a conference on Great Contemporary Indian Mystics.

1991 November - Invited to the Harbourfront International Festival of Arts, Toronto, Canada with performances also in the US. Also performed at the Opera Houses at Dusseldorf and Dortmund in Germany.

1992 May - June - Performances at The Basel International Dance Festival, Switzerland and in Kunzelsau, Germany at the invitation of the Adolf Wurth GmbH & Co.

1993 June - Invited by the Ramasubbaiah Scholarship Committee for a performance in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and by the Indian Fine Arts Society of Singapore to perform at the Victoria Theatre.

1993 October - November - Tour of Holland, Finland, Switzerland, and Germany, with performances at the Royal Tropical Institute- Amsterdam, Vredenburg Theatre- Utrecht, the Philips Music Centrum- Eindhoven, the Korzo Theatre-The Hague, the Sibelius Academy - Helsinki, Winterthur-Switzerland.

1993 November - December - Tour of Japan jointly sponsored by the ICCR, India and the Min-on Concert Association of Japan. Nine performances at Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, Hiroshima, Nagasaki

1995 May - June - Tour of Germany, Switzerland, Italy, France and Spain. Invited by the the Hammoniale Festival in Hamburg, Germany. Performances also, at the Staatstheater in Darmstadt, in Berchtesgaden, Baden Baden, at theTheatre Basel in Switzerland, at theTeatro Olimpico for the Philarmonic Society in Rome.

1995 July - August - Invited by the Avignon International Festival in France, the Barcelona Summer Festival GREC 95 and the SAMA Arts Festival at the Queen Elizabeth Hall in London. Was featured in the documentary on the festival, made by the TV Channel Arte (France)

1996 March - Performance at the Spring Festival at Darmstadt in Germany at te Darmstadt Schauspielhaus (Opera house).

1996 June - Performance at the Queen Elizabeth Hall for the Festival of India’s South in London.

1996 September, October & November - Tour of Sardinia, Holland, Belgium, France, Spain. Performances in:-

  • Sardinia - at the Teatro Comunale in Cagliari
  • Holland- at the Royal Tropical Institute-Amsterdam, Groningen, Utrecht,
  • Rotterdam, Nijmegen and in Turnhout, Begium.
  • Spain – at The Madrid International Festival , Pamplona and Malaga.
  • France- at Les Plateaux in Angouleme, Le Quartz Theatre at Brest, Theatre National of Cherbourg and The Maison de la Danse in Lyon.

1996 November - Invited to dance for the International Gala of the Bayerisches Staatsballett in Munich at the Prinzregenten Theatre.

1996 November - Performed at Utsav ‘96 - India Festival in Bangladesh organised by the ICCR and the Indian High Commission in Bangladesh.

1997 March - Invited to the Helsinki Biennale in Finland (Savoy Theatre).

1997 May - Performances at the Bergen International Festival, Norway in the
presence of the King and Queen of Norway. Performances at The Theatre de la Ville Festival in Paris and the Lisbon Festival in Portugal.

1998 March - ICCR Cultural Delegation to Israel, Syria, Romania and Cyprus.

1998 July - Performed at the Royal Albert Hall - London in the presence of
Prince Charles, for the joint celebrations of the 50th year of Independence of India and Pakistan, organised by the Asia House, UK. Performance for the Goethe Institute, Munich in Germany.

1998 August - Invited by the Vienna Summer Dance Festival ( Impuls Tanz 98)
Conducted a workshop for their International Sommer Tanzwochen.

1998 October / November – Tour of Germany and France, with performances at the Rouen Festival in France, the Theatre-de-la-Ville - Paris, the Wuppertal Festival for Silver Jubilee Celebrations of Pina Bausch’s Dance Theatre, the Darmstadt Festival at the Staatstheater in Darmstadt.

1999 April / May – Tour of USA and Canada.

1999 August - Invited by the Singapore Indian Fine Arts Society to present a paper at their Conference, on ‘The Indian Performing Arts in the next millenium’.

1999 October – Performances at the Solo Donna Festival, for the Venice Biennale, at The Teatro Goldoni, featuring leading women dancers of the world. Performances at The San Antonio International Dance Festival in Texas, USA

2000 April / May – Tour of Spain (performances in Las Palmas and Logrono), USA and Canada

2000 August – Invited by the Niigata Asian Cultural Festival in Japan, with Performances at Niigata, Muikamachi and Joetsu.

2000 October – Tour of Germany, France and Italy. Performances at the Berlin Festival at the Schiller Theatre, in Reimscheid in Germany, at the Festivals in Bologna, Ferrara, and Reggio Emilia in Italy, and in Chalon en Champagne, La Roche Sur Yon and Angers – Theatre NTA / Beaurepaire in France)

2001 March – Invitation to the Brussels Spring Festival in Belgium. Tour of Spain with 17 performances at Getafe, Madrid, Avila, Segovia, Torrelodones, Soria, Valencia, Salamanca, Valladolid, Alcala De Henares, San Sebastian Reyes, Torrejon Ardoz, Majadahonda, Galapagar, Burgos, Ponferrada and Leon.

2001 May - Performances at the Alte Oper in Frankfurt - Germany and at the Asia in Helsinki Festival in Finland.

2001 May - Performance at Kathmandu, at the Royal Nepal Academy Hall, jointly sponsored by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations and the Indian Embassy in Nepal.

2002 April – 5 performances at the Theatre des Abbesses of the Theatre De La Ville, in Paris.

2002 May – Tour of U.S.A. Performances in New Jersey and Chicago

2002 August – Performances at The Sadler’s Wells Theatre in London, UK, for the Sangeetam Festival.

2003 March, April, May – Tour of the U.S.A and Canada, with performances in eighteen cities.

2003 September – Opened the Theatre De La Ville season in Paris, with five performances.

2004 February - Performance in Muscat at the Al Bustaan Palace auditorium.

2004 March - Jubilee Performance for the Seventy Fifth Anniversary of the Indien - Institut, Munich, at the Kuenstlerhaus in Munich, Germany.

2004 April - Performance in Singapore, for the Singapore Indian Fine Arts Society.

2005 March- April - Tour to celebrate The Silver Jubilee Celebrations of The Soorya International Film and Cultural Society, Trivandrum, with performances at Abudhabi, Dubai, Muscat, Kuwait, Doha, Bahrain, Zurich, Rome, Vienna, Cologne, London, Singapore & Malaysia

2005 October - Performance at The Teatrino di Corte of The Royal Palace of Naples, Italy, for the ‘Associazione “l’Armonia e ’Invenzione”.

2006 March – The Singapore premiere of Samanvaya - a choreographic work with Madhavi Mudgal, weaving together strands of Bharatanatyam and Odissi - at the Esplanade Theatre, for The 2006 Festival of Indian Classical Music and Dance of The Singapore Indian Fine Arts Society,

2006 March – April - Samanvaya Tour of France with 17 performances at the Theatres Nationales - at Gradignon, Martigues, La Roches Sur Yon, Brest ( The Quartz Theatre), Nantes, Grenobles, Annecy, Tarbes, Narbonnes, Clairemont- Ferrand ( 2 performancs) and the Theatre De La Ville ( 5 performances)in Paris.

2006 June – Bangladesh premiere of Samanvaya and a solo Bharatanatyam performance at Dhaka, for The Shadhona .

2006 July 29th – Performance at the Munich Opera Festival of The Baayerische Staatsoper, in honour of Maestro Zubin Mehta.

2006 August – Performances for the Helsinki Biennale, at The Helsinki Opera House, Finland.

2006 August – UK Premiere of Samanvaya, at The Edinburgh Festival, UK, at The Lyceum Theatre.

2006 October – Performance at the opening of the India Festival in Belgium – at The Palais Des Beaux Arts.
ICCR tour of Samanvaya, with 9 performances in Poland, Hungary and Spain and at The Bruges International Festival, Belgium at The Theatre Nationale.
